KWI Transfer Question

Hi gang. I'm stitching together my Xmas itinerary. Feels good to be able to do this kind of activity again! It's amazing how long 2y without international travel feels ...

Anyway, I'm looking at a BA itinerary that involves ZRH-LHR-KWI landing at 07h30, then (separate ticket) departing KWI at 16h35 on WY (Oman Air) landing MCT at 19h45.

9-ish hours in any airport - not the greatest but not the end of the world either. Has anyone done an airside transfer in KWI recently? Anything I should be aware of? Yes there will be checked luggage involved on this one. Will this necessitate getting an eVisa?

It was a few years ago that I last experienced KWI, but, yes, your itinerary would require a visa. They had visa-on-arrival, where you stand in a line airside and pay a fee then proceed to immigration. This is one of the least appealing capital airports in the world (unlike the new MCT, which is excellent). Not sure if you'd be able to check your bags that early or if there is a left-luggage counter, but with that time frame you might as well take a taxi and explore Kuwait, though there isn't much to see.

Done it twice in KWI.
First time airside, with change of airlines on same ticket RJ to EY. Noone had a clue how to do transit, and bags got lost.

Second time UL to UA, same ticket as well. No bags. Had 8 hours. Went to the towers and hung out and had some great food on the corniche for a few hours
