Dubai transfer - minimum transfer time
Hi all
I tried to book DMM-DXB on SV556 which lands in DXB at 18:45, with an onward connection on SQ495 at 20:00. Both use DXB terminal 1. The travel agent told me that the 1 hour 15 mins did not meet the minimum transit time.
When I asked for an alternative, the agent suggested FZ864 which (bizarrely) leaves DMM 5 minutes later, but has a much shorter flight time - arriving DXB at 17:50. FZ uses terminal 2.
Does anyone know:
1. Why FluDubai's flight time is only 1.5 hours whereas Saudia has 2.5 hours for the same route?
2. What the minimum transit time is within DXB terminal 1?
It just seems crazy that I need to leave later, and fly to a different DXB terminal, in order to be on the right side of the "minimum" transit times. I've basically decided to ignore the agent and book the airline I want to fly (Saudia) despite the threat of a delay disrupting my travel plans. I'll only have carry-on.

This will be why SV takes longer...

I would say either option should be fine. FZ is bookable on the SQ website. FZ has the kerfuffle of bus gates at Dubai T2 and the terminal transfer can be inefficient but at least you'll be accommodated if there's a delay.

I'm not sure about FlyDubai transferring your bags to Singapore. However, I would never book a flight arriving at T2 and transferring to T1 in under 2 hours.
