Sinus medication allowed into UAE?

I'll be staying in Dubai for a few days next month at the beginning of a lengthy trip to the US. I always take my sinus medicine with me when I travel but I am concerned that there may be issues entering the UAE with these medicines that I purchase here in Cyprus without a prescription. Would rupafin (rupatadine), an antihistamine, and augmentin, an antibiotic cause me any problems?

They only thing I know is I have to have a notarized prescription for the Valium I carry. I found it out by google search.

But what your talking about should be no problem. I think it also said that most antibiotic's are sold over the counter.

Like is often the case, official rules and actual enforcement are two different things completely. I imagine your nationality and your "appearance" probably determine how thoroughly they search or enforce drug laws. What are considered mild, common drugs in the West might technically be illegal in the UAE. See here:

I guess it all depends on your tolerance for risk. Most likely you'd never be searched or charged for possessing illegal drugs. However, there is always that one person in a million they use as an example case.

I was aware of the issue regarding what is commonplace elsewhere may be illegal in the UAE, which is why I asked about specific medication. I could not find a list anywhere. The link you posted gives some info, but is not complete by any means. Interesting that poppy seeds are not allowed - I'll be sure not to pack a poppy seed muffin for a snack .

You could consider contacting the Ministry of Health to request a full list:
