DOHA Hilton or Intercontinental ?

We have a 4 days family stay coming up in DOH. I have points and status at both Hilton and IC - which is considered a better choice? (We are thinking the IC Doha, NOT the City)

The IC has quite a nice beach and pool. Since it is quite far out I only went once or twice in the five years I lived in DOH. Can't speak for the HI because it is a new hotel and I never had cause to go!

I've stayed in both several times and figure they're pretty much interchangeable. The IC is a bit older (though they have renovated the rooms and they're very comfortable) and with a slightly worse location, but it has more amenities and a better beach. Service is better at the IC in my experience (though that is as Royal Ambassador). F&B is a wash -- breakfast is better at IC, Hilton has a somewhat interesting-looking French brasserie (which I haven't tried) and Trader Vics (a poor one), while IC has Mykonos by the pool, Belgian Cafe (the best pub in town), and a better buffet overall.

I would choose based on price and whichever loyalty points are more valuable to you.

Thanks guys, we ended up booking at the IC. One Royal Ambassador and one Plat Ambassador in the party (one room in each's name), so I'd expect better upgrades than at the Hilton. (1 RA paid room + 1 PlatAmb redemption room + 1 hotels.com paid room - I think I optimized this stay as much as I can )

One of the other factors was that we'll use the Hilton points in BKK, where the Hilton is better situated for first timer general tourists than the IC.
