Cutting it too close?

So I need to catch a Sat. Night flight on Turkish Airlines from TLV at 19:35 and sunset is at 17:22. If I am in Jerusalem for Shabbat and the earliest that I can possibly leave is at 17:50, am I crazy for even trying? I probably will not need to check bags

Way too close if you ask me. Sat. night at TLV is the busiest travel time, since LY shuts down over shabbat, and will be ramping up all its post shabbat evening/night flights. You need to get yourself to TLV 2 hours minimum, 2.5-3 hours optimally, for adequate time for security, etc. there.

If you're only leaving jerusalem at 17:50, I'm guessing you're only going to arrive at TLV slightly before an hour prior to departure. You'll also want to check the minimum check in time for TLV, which is usually earlier on most airlines than other airports.

If you can ccheck in online in advance and print your boarding pass, meaning you arrive at the airport approx. 1 hour before the flight and head straight to security than it sounds very possible IMO.

I hope that means you are going by private taxi or car. A shared taxi that has to pick up other passengers will not get you to the airport in time.

If you weren't checking bags, I would say no sweat.
With bags, a little iffy, bit doable, though I would do OLCI to be safe.

I'd advise against Jerusalem for Shabbat. And no checking in bags. And OLCI!

Problem is that Online Check-In doesn't open until 24 Hours before and I cannot check-in on Shabbos. The Turkish Airlines website claims that all of their flights close one hour before. Somehow I find that hard to believe...

So have the computer running, ready to check-in right after havdala. Or do you know if they have mobile check-in?

So get someone you trust in the US to do your OLCI before Shabbat in the US...

Even with OLCI you still have to go to security, and sometimes there is no seperate line for those who did OLCI. You would have to get on the regular line or somehow convince an security agent to take you sooner than the regular line.

Then on to hand luggage check and passport control. Assuming that you don't have the biometric card this alone can add 5-15 minutes. I think the whole thing is undoable

I would agree. Even FC and biometric card would be tough.
And certainly not the best airport to try to rush through security with no baggage. I have done it, but with the above and one of the new active reserves cards to show security. Even so, way too tight for comfort.

But I do love Turkish Air.
