A great local steakhouse called Bookbinder's (distant relative of the ole Philly place). alot of inaguaral specials($44) like jumbo stone crab claws, ostrich filet oscar, 44oz porterhouse. wow. perfect if trying to get away from the other chains, reminds a lot of morton's or ruth's chris.

A better place for steaks is Ray's the Steaks on Wilson Blvd. in Arlington. If you're coming from DCA it's convenient to Metro, too, being about midway between the Rosslyn and Courthouse stations. (Downhill from Courthouse, uphill from Rosslyn).
If you don't want a steak, Ray's Hell-Burger (same block as Ray's the Steaks, same owner) makes an amazing hamburger. The address is 1713 Wilson Blvd. I mention the street number because there's no signage out front.

Strange first post for someone.
44 oz steak??? where's the guy who says main courses are never big enough.
this place is not within walking distance of dca. not close to the metro stops either.

If you want bigger, may I recommend the Big Texan in Amarillo Texas. 72 oz steak. If you eat it in 1 hour, plus the side dishes, it is free. It also is not within walking distance of DCA.

They are in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. See http://www.bookbindersoldtown.com/
They are about a 15 minute walk from the the King Street Metro station. Note that there is a free trolley service that runs up-and-down King Street from the Metro station to the waterfront - right past Bookbinders.
