I am hoping my company will allow me to leave Houston a couple days early and stop off in DC to visit my best friend. I know that means hauling my luggage off and back to airport.
But if now, I would probably have a regular layover of couple hours. I don't have my final reservation yet.

about 25 miles east or west of terminal H. I have not seen a "neat" place in an airport since i started flying 50 years ago.

i think most of the lounges suck. virgin atlantic excepted. yes, go to the virgin lounge. you can get in, if you are special..........

Not unless you're flying AA, CO, DL, or NW.

They used to use the other letters for those flights that load directly from people mover to plane - they're at a hardstand (?) somewhere on the tarmac. I think H is one of those.

And H appears as such on the IAD map. I am curious as to who loads this way because I don't think I've ever seen it.

in prior days AZ for one. we would get on the peoplemover at the NW lounge back door, and go directly to the flight.

That might still be done for their premium cabins ... I was in there waiting for an LH flight (before their deal for Virgin lounge access) and was disappointed I had to walk all the way to the other end of the terminal after watching the loading via the 'back' door.

These days they use the doors near where the D shuttle leaves from the main terminal for the loading.

That'd be on the baggage claim level? While I would not ever be visiting the mens room ... I have seen the waiting crowds and unfortunately am not entirely surprised

As previously noted, the "H gates" are not a terminal but rather boarding onto a Mobile Lounge that transports you directly to the plane parked in the Hardstand area. The "H gates" are adjacent to the "D gates" Mobile Lounge doors in the Main Terminal, post-security of course.

Since the B Concourse expansion of 12 additional gates opened a few months ago, there is very little use of the H gates now. Previously, some of the TACA flights used H gates, but now they all use B gates. Aside from Saudia's regular use of the H gates, I've only seen occasional charter flights using them.

Presumably, premium passengers on Saudia can access one of the B Concourse lounges - and then be transported directly from the lounge to the plane. Not sure of the details here though - check with the airline.

As of November 16, Saudi Arabian Airlines uses gate B51. They no longer use the "H" gates as discussed earlier in this thread.
