Is Crystal City to DCA walkable?

Has anyone tried to walk from Crystal City to DCA? I took a cab from my apt to the airport, and the cab driver commented on how he was surprised that I didn't try to walk it.

Thumbs up

I see people do it all the time when the weather is good. There is the bridge from the southern end of CC that takes you over the GW Parkway or you can take the bike/jogging path across a bit further to the north...

strictly speaking you could walk it, or just take the metro 1 stop . . .

Well, in that case....

...it would be a cinch to walk because traffic would be light. Assuming you only have a crew bag with you!

PS Yes, I have done it!!!

I've done it, too. Seem to recall the entry area to the airport doesn't have sidewalks and I had to traverse the lawn, but worked out fine.

I've done this several times. From Crystal City, you talk the path under the railroad tracks that connects to the Mount Vernon trail. You head south along the trail and turn left on at the sign (intended for cyclists) that says "Washington-National Airport." This path winds a bit to avoid the road, goes under the airport return road, and ends at the B/C parking ramp where there is a bike rack. Once in the parking ramp, follow the signs to the exit which puts you at the north end of the metro station, closest to Terminal C.
