Bus -> Rail Transfers to PHL?

Generally, if I want to make an ex-PHL flight, is there a (cost, ease of transfer) difference beween a Greyhound or Chinatown bus to Septa?

Specifically, which would you suggest, if I need to make an early AM flight (6ish) as the bus to rail transfer will have to happen in the wee hours of the morning.

or is it wiser at that hour to go the ex-nyc NJTransit-SEPTA commuter rail option.

btw, did i read right and the new fare for the airport train is $7 o/w?

thanks

You don't say where you are starting your trip, but you mention the Chinatown bus so I'm gonna guess NYC...and I can't help you.

If you are taking the SEPTA R1 from Center City Philly into PHL, the cost is $6 if you buy at the station and $7 if you buy on board the train (o/w). It looks like the earliest R1 will get you to PHL just before 5:00 am (I've taken early R1 trains and they have been late) so be careful about the timing.

yep I'm coming from nyc.

iirc, the closet R1 station to Greyhound is at or near the Gallery.

It's been awhile ...can ya tell me about how far away are the 2 and would you caution against making that transfer in the very early AM (arriving at PHL @5:00 AM)?

The Market East station is just a couple blocks from the Chinatown bus depot. Probably about a, oh, 5-7 minute walk.
