Tight IAD Connection: Advice?!?!?!

Hey,

I must be crazy but please tell me the chances of making my transfer I am coming in from LHR on Virgin Atlantic 055 @ 8:55 (B Concourse) (I have done it before and its never late, usually earlier) but I have to clear customs and then go get on a United Express (Trans States) 8002 to MDT (Harrisburg) @ 9:45 (A Concourse).......I am only having a carryon so not baggage claim.......What do you think???

Honestly - not much of a chance. Make sure you know the next flight time so you can get placed on that waitlist immediately. OTOH, hope the express flight is delayed.

The express flight can be boarded in 5 minutes and closed that fast - they try for 10 minutes before flight time but sometimes let folks slip through after that as well. You need to wait for the people mover to fill at Terminal B to head to the mid-field terminal for customs. Then you're hoping for no line and a shuttle to A about to depart when you arrive there -- there is seriously limited chance of this connection working for you.

Carl Lewis would have a very difficult time making this connection, so I would say your odds aren't very high. IAD is a mess when connecting from one terminal to another and needs a more efficient system such as DFW

Just curious, in how many different forums did you post this question?

No you will not likely make it.
