IAD Security Checkpoint to Move
The security checkpoint at IAD will move to the west end of the main terminal beginning Monday evening Oct. 9 and completing on Wednesday Oct. 11. The main terminal mobile lounge dock to the A gates will move to the area of the D gate shuttle.

So what happens to the D gate shuttle if A is using those? Any idea to the purpose of the change?
I came through last night but only saw that half the area (where the crew used to be screened and half the doors where folks exiting the secured area into the screening lines instead of going downstairs with the escalators/stairs) were blocked off.

The new security area is OPEN and it is ALL the way down at the other end of the terminal from where it was (and the UA counters). If you have your boarding pass, go towards the Delta counters (or any Skyteam carrier) and you'll be much closer to the lines than if you started with UA. I think the area opened on Saturday since an IAD engineer was chatting with a TSO about how they like the new space.
The premium line is right up the middle/center of the new corrals. At least they moved that and didn't use this as an excuse to eliminate it *whew*.
That said, this evening when I left the airport around 4:30 or 5:00, the line for security came out of the corral and stretched ALL the way back to the UA counters, around the escalator area and back down the front hallway. It looks worse now because they don't have lines or corrals for those folks in those areas, so they are loosely formed lines. I'm not sure if that's the same wait as previous or an even worse one.
The C shuttle is in the same place, but it looks like the A shuttle got moved down near the D shuttle area. If you come through security, it's a bit of a hike to the C gates (why didn't they move those - at least to the A doors?). When you get off the C bus though, if you turn right you can exit into the ticketing area and head straight for the escalator downstairs for a quick(er) exit.

As I understand you, security is now in the middle of the terminal but we still walk to the East end for the C shuttles?

Experience on 10/13
I found the new elite security gates--not easily I had to ask. On Friday evening people were stacked up everywhere for the main security as there were no corrals. For the premium security the line was pretty short 10-12 people. Whew!! As said earlier, it is to the right of where it used to be, past the Lufthansa and other counters. Ask...

I've been through a couple times. The only snafu at this point is that it can sometimes be hard to get to the elite line if you go BEHIND the ticket counters to get there, as the turnstiles make the path to the elite line narrow and crowded with people milling about.
Best option is to go to the center of the terminal IN FRONT OF the ticket counters and then straight back into the elite line.
Hope this makes sense...

There are two Premium lines just like before. If you are coming from United area then it's against the wall. This is probably a bad design if things are busy because you would have fight your way through.
The other area is just above the "other" escalators on the western end. The Premium line is on the right -- if you are coming from the west (parking garage 2) make a sharp right as you pass the British Airways counters.
Basically the whole thing has been reversed. In the past "other" airline passengers would queue along the wall and the UA had the "corral".

Last Monday morning the whole place was a mess, or a soup with gazillions of people everywhere. I'm flying at every Monday and have never seen such a mess. It also took about 5-6 minutes longer to get to the security using the premium line (by the escalator).
However, the screening area looks very nice, and is bright and have a nice background of seeing the whole airport. Love those large windows.

I went through last night and as stated, there is a premium line coming from the United counter (along the wall on the left of the lines). Only 6-7 people were in line ahead of me and in fact I had to rush to put things in my bag for security it went so fast.
