IAD PA system is annyoing!

It’s throughout the airport, but before an announcement is made there is this two-tone sound that is extremely loud and overbearing, especially for me…who just arrived on a 6am departure from ORD!

Did you hear the big loud buzzing noise from the gate? I remember reading about that, but I've not experienced it yet.

Are you sure you aren't referring to the alert chime on the Metro?

I'm sure. I've never taken the Metro.

(Although it could be a similar chime.)

Yep... every single time an agent makes an announcement. You get used to it after awhile and I don't even really notice it anymore... at least it's not extremely loud. I've also read recently about the door alarms that go off frequently..but I haven't experienced those either. Don't do too much UX flying out of IAD so that's probably why.

Is that what it is? Here I thought the whole airport was annoying.

It is, but I have been in and out of IAD so much that I am used to all of the annoyinces,
Moon Buggies, Smell of Concourse C/D, Int'l Arrivals, crappy food, etc...

What I love are the PA announcements at DCA which begin "This is a special announcement..." They are so special that you are guaranteed to hear them at least 10 times even if you are only in the airport for one flight.

I have tried to avoid IAD lately...not sure if they have similar ones there.
