Cheap Eastern Shore beach house for Memorial Day weekend?

Anyone got suggestions of a cheap beach town for Memorial Day weekend? My friend stayed on a work retreat in an adorable house on a hill in the town of St. Leonard Maryland. We're not thrilled with the rate and 5 day min. stay for Memorial Day.

To save me some time on Craig's list, can anyone suggest what are reasonable rates for areas like St. Leonard and the nearby towns of St, Micheals. We're not necessarily looking for beachfront or even a beach nearby, just a view of ocean.

Thanks!

I think your geography is a bit skewed here. First off, if you're looking for an Eastern shore beach house, St Leonard is on the western shore. If you're looking for an ocean view, both shores won't deliver that because they are on the Chesapeake, not the Atlantic Ocean.

You'll need to drive to Ocean City to get a beach house in Maryland which is the only town in Maryland on the ocean. So do you want to be on the ocean or do you want to be on the Chesapeake?

I think st leonard is on the western shore of the chesapeake, while st michaels is on the eastern shore of the chesapeake. Nearby by boat, but not by car. Water front/view property in St.L. area is rather inexpensive in the overall cost of properties.

Cheap on the western shore is probably North Beach, or chesapeake beach. However, you gets what you pays for. I don't think they have torn down the one room rentals in norht beach yet.

OC is on the ocean, and it is but a small step above atlantic city NJ.

That's what I said and both of which aren't on the ocean.

That right there speaks volumes about Ocean City.

Lemmee see. You want a cheap beach house on one of the busiest weekends of the year. Are you also interested in buying a nearby bridge?

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes, my geography seems a bit off- I use the word beachhouse for something at the shore. Must be a reflection of what an ignorant suburbinate turned urbanite I am. Ha ha

And finding a cheap place on Memorial Day is asking for a lot, I know. I'm of the school of thought of never travelling on summer holiday weekends but my friends really want to plan a trip for then because it is hard to coordinate when everyone can take off of work.

I'll probably stick with the option of St. Leonard's. I've never been to OC though I grew up in Maryland and I have no intention of changing that.
