IAD Security 9/6
It took me over 50 minutes to get through security at Dulles this morning. I got in line a little before 8:00 and did not get through until 8:50. Half of the security lines were closed with closed gates. Someone said that they sent TSA's to Louisiana to help with recovery. Any truth to that. Not sure what they are trained to do besides running security lines.

Dulles security is a joke. I missed a flight to SFO two weeks ago because the security line was an hour long. Of course, United closes the flight 15 minutes early even when they know there are throngs of passengers en route to the gate. The indignities of IAD never fail to amaze.

Last week I had a 50 minute wait at security ... then a mobile lounge jaunt ... then another trip on a bus ... only to end up at the G (Greyhound) terminal.
If that's not hell, I don't know what is.

Sounds like you took a mobile lounge to C, then the bus from C30 to G. If so, why didn't you just take the bus directly from Main to G? (RCC stop in C perhaps?)

IAD security
Last Thursday afternoon (Sept. 1) took me over an hour to go through security at Dulles. You just never know what you'll encounter. Many of the security screening stations were closed. I was travelling to ATL and thought to myself that they never seem to have the same problems with security screeners at ATL.

Back in early August, I put my wife and several others on a flight to Africa for a mission trip. They were catching the SAA flight to J'Burg that left at 0845. SAA put the fear of God in us so we got to the airport right before the ticket counter opened up at 0530.
The team was heading through security about 0600 and they were just at the bow wave of the huge build-up of people. It only took them about 15 minutes at that time of the morning, but I could already see that the time had already doubled during the 15 minutes they waited.
The only time I've not had a hassle at IAD, except for the screeners themselves, is mid-afternoon from about 1200-1500.
