I remember when I first moved to No VA over 15 years ago and went into a pizza place to ask for two slices of pizza to go. The guy just looked at me and then asked what would he do with the rest of the pie ... it was a totally foreign concept to sell by the slice and they were far from alone. It's gotten easier to buy a slice, but pizza in NY is still better than anything I've bought down here.

Austin Grill on King st. in Old Town is one of my favorite tex-mex places. That and Hard Times Cafe for chili. Their veggie chili rocks.

Chinese - House of Emporor, Ashburn (best Chinese in the county!)
Sushi - Matsuba Sushi, Ashburn (very creative and attentive chef)
Brewhouse - Old Dominion Brew Co, Ashburn (fun place if you can find it)
Italian - Treviso Ristorante, Ashburn (always a good meal)

i need to try 4912

when i had a craving for cajun-creole and found it under construction

^ One of the participating NoVA restaurants in Wash Restaurant Week. It has Price Fixe lunch menu which is a bargain, IMHO.

One of the bargain dish in Pho, a Vietmanese noodle dish. ^ My favorites are Pho Bistro in Centreville and one at the strip shopping mall with 7-11 at the corner of Lee HWY and Jermantown Road.
