BWI to Georgetown

What is the latest on getting from BWI to Georgetown? In the past I have rented a car, but I hate the hassel. How bad is the taxi fare or is there a better way?

You can take the Maryland Shuttle for about $40 to $50. You can also take the mark train from the BWI Rail Station to Union Station for about $5 and then hop a taxi to Georgetown for about $10.

If you want to keep it inexpensive & don't mind some walking, you can get Amtrak ($23 one way) or MARC ($5.75 one way) out of BWI to Union Station & take the Metro. As far as exactly how to get to where you're going from there, you may want to check out The RideGuide for the Metro. For a timetable for trains from BWI, you can find that info here. Hope this helps...

No Metro to Georgetown.
The closest Metro station is Foggy Bottom/GWU. Located at Washington Circle between 23st & I .

That's what I was referring to by if he didn't mind some walking (Staying at the Westin at 23rd & M, the walk's not so bad). I know that there are buses that go into Georgetown though from other Metro stops.

FYI...the MARC doesn't run on the weekends. If you come in then, be prepared for the $20 Amtrak instead of the $5 MARC.

I am staying at the Georgetown suites which isn't too far from Foggy Bottom, but I'll probably just catch at cab from Union Station. I will have one flight bag and it sounds like this will make it easier. I will be comming in during the weekday just in time for the rush crowd.

I do the BWI - downtown DC run often. I recommend taking Amtrak to Union station - cab it from there.

Amtrak is a little more expensive, but it is worth it. In BIZ class you even get an AC outlet to work on your laptop or charge your cell phone if you want.

Well, I took the MARC to Union Station ($5) and a cab to Georgetown ($8). It was all very easy and I would highly recommend it. Normally I would find this somewhat intimidating, but it was very easy.

Thanks Again Everyone.
