Niagara Falls , NY, airport?
What is the Niagara Falls airport like to travel through? I notice Allegiant flies direct from Niagara Falls to Clearwater, FL and I'm considering it for my next trip south instead of flying from Toronto to Tampa. I appreciate it's a smaller airport and am wondering how it is for ease of travel, check-in, security, distances to gates, parking availability/cost, amenities, shops and restaurants, nearby hotels, etc.?

I wouldn’t call it an airport.
you have allegiance and charters fly in/ out of there. The airport is mainly a military base for the air national guard.
They only have a couple flights a day.
just fly out of BUF.

Thanks but I'm looking for a direct flight and could not find any from Buffalo to Tampa and no flights from there to St. Pete's/Clearwater. Allegiant flies direct to St. Pete's/ Clearwater from Niagara Falls. I can fly direct from Toronto to Tampa and would prefer that over a connecting flight from Buffalo.

Frontier also flies BUF-TPA nonstop, but service is less than daily. Sold at flyfrontier.com.

In terms of food service at IAG, I did find this, but cannot vouch for how current the information is:

I think that the problem is that the OP was searching for available flights on Expedia, which does not sell tickets on Southwest (or on Frontier, I believe).

I've found Frontier on FlightHub and went to the Southest website for more info but while these flights are non-stop the go into Tampa and St. Peter's/Clearwater is more convenient for me. If I'm going into Tampa I might as well go from Toronto.

I grew up between buffalo and Niagara Falls. That airport for commercial is nothing. Allegient flys out. spirit did as well as other smaller startups ups and they had regularly flew charters/ no names to Atlantic City
there was long talk of it being more commercial but never happened. It has 4 gates. Wouldn't be surprised if one of these newer airlines like Breeze flies there.
It has a near 2 mile long runway where it can handle large military aircraft and it has taken diverted Toronto flights like when the plane crashed on the runway or a temp diversion like weather delay. With the border right there, they can bring Canadian officers over there and process them if needed. It has a couple gates that can handle a 747/380

Only on some third-party sites: I did not see Frontier flights on expedia.ca, which is where the OP initially searched
But if the OP has no problem with flying Allegiant -- taking into account that Allegiant will not rebook on other carriers in the event of IROPS -- there's no reason not to fly out of IAG. IAG is not the only airport where Allegiant is the sole carrier. One can plan around the lack of terminal amenities.

i agree .its about what your priorities are. Just understand Allegiant is a limited service airline so if cancelations occur you can be stuck while major carriers can re-route you. The airport lacks amenities. It will be a different experience.
the smallest airport I ever flew out of Wilmington, DE when shuttle america existed in the mid/ late 90s ( US airways bought them). They were using a GA airfield then built a small terminal and baggage claim was pick up bags plane side. Boarding was off tarmac. I think it had 2 gates. This was pre TSA years. The bathroom was outside security.
