DC hotels

I'm looking at flying into DC for a few days before heading to NYC by Amtrak.

Would anyone have any recommedations for hotels that are at least 4* that are safe (as a hotel and locally for a lone woman), in easy reach of the main tourist traps. Struggling to find any recent reviews.

The Hay Adams, Four Seasons, St. Regis, Mayflower, Ritz Carlton, Willard, and Sofitel are just a few of the dozens of choices.

Really, any hotel in downtown DC and not in Northeast or Southeast is eminently safe for any traveler, whether single and female or not.

I prefer georgetown when in DC.
So - FS Georgetown, burbon steak (lobby resteraunt is worthwhile).
Not as nice, but either fairmont or hyatt and dinner at blue duck.
