Philly over July 4
Hi all. Given Philly's status as birthplace of the nation and all that jazz, should I expect that Center City will be a zoo on and around the 4th?
I was able to snag a dinner reservation at Zahav on the night of the 4th and was thinking of taking a couple of days. Just wanting to find out what I'm getting into.
Thanks!

Great town, great food. There will be a ton of people about town as there is a concert/fireworks on the Parkway and fireworks on the waterfront on the Delaware. Plenty to see and do.

Agreed, you had great luck with that reservation and should take advantage of being in Philly around the 4th. Tons of stuff to do, including the Philly Pops outdoor concert at Independence Mall in the morning.

Thanks to both of you for the replies! I'm looking forward to it. I was just in Philly a couple of weeks ago, but it's always fun to go back - and I can't wait to try the restaurant!!

Timely thread; +1 and I will be driving down after work next Friday and staying in the Old City. Our reservation for Zahav is for Saturday night. We've been twice before and are looking forward to taking our friends there (it will be their first time).

Of course, be aware of the Welcome America free concert on Ben Franklin Parkway, which will mess with traffic and public transit (it is huge) but depending on where you’re staying, it may be a non-issue since Zahav is on the other side of Center City.
