TK lounge coming to IAD B concourse
Edward Pizzarello tweeted a picture of a "We will be opening here soon!" sign for a new Turkish Airlines lounge yesterday, which I found out about when Gary Leff wrote it up. That post notes that this technically might be a contract lounge for TK and therefore restricted to its passengers, but OTOH the sign did include a Star Alliance Gold logo.
This is supposedly where Virgin and Emirates once shared a lounge in B, but I can't place that mentally. Anybody know anything else about this?

I might get my description wrong, but here goes. When they relabeled the A and B terminals, the walkway from the main terminal bisects the two now. Coming up that escalator and hanging a right, you'll pass the British Airways gates on the left (as well as the new Carrabba's and Washingtonian stand). Right before you get to Potbelly and SBUX is a lounge opposite them. My recollection is that both Virgin and Emirates have called this home at one point.

MatthewLAX just posted an encouraging report on the TK lounge. No photos of the inside--it's still a hard-hat area, so I guess the place won't be open when I fly out of IAD on the 29th--but the entrance looks very high-end, and the signage above it clearly indicates it's a *A Gold lounge.

First visit

I'm not sure what TK is doing with such a high-end space--I think there's only one other customer here--but it's easily worth the walk past LH's lounge. The highlight of the buffet today is a delicious chicken tagine that I'm about to get seconds of, at the cost of skipping a visit to LH. Half of the bar area is roped off for construction, but I don't actually need to walk over there when the staff asks if I'd like anything else to drink.
Views are outstanding, and so is the bandwidth: 183.46 Mbps down, 21.47 Mbps up, per speedtest.net.

More info here and reviews:

Bar was open when I was there (6 days in). Definitely a nice option, next to B43 and across from B42. Easiest access is probably from B-gate stop of Aerotrain, although it's close to the middle of the terminal.

This is a Star Alliance Gold lounge with all that means for Gold Status access.
BUT, this is a "contract lounge" - which eliminates access for paid United Club members departing on any Star alliance flight who don't have Gold status.
The LH lounge a few minutes away is not a "contract lounge", so paid United Club members (with any Star alliance flight that day) have access to it.
