POV bar question?

We have reservations for POV on Friday night after sunset. They say we are supposed to meet the "greeter" in the lobby/living room of the W hotel and from there we will be seated. Are you supposed to give this greeter a tip, how much, and will it influence how good of a view you get? Or is it one of those places where the views are good from all sides, like that "Top of the Mart" place in San Francisco?

If there are other viewpoint bars let us know. Would rather have an overpriced drink with a view, rather than an overpriced meal...

The "greeter" is the person at the dedicated elevator for the POV. I've never even thought about tipping them. POV is open air and the view is pretty much the same from anywhere.

POV has great views and that's about it. Prices for drinks are outrageous, food selections are small. Stay for one drink and find another place to eat and drink.

for a great sunset view, and a decent happy hour, come down to the weston (sausity)at national harbor. you will want to sit on the east side, as the put up a sun screen over most of the window.

Well, we heard that there was nowhere to park in DC so we're using the Metro. Is there a nearby station to this? Always appreciate a good happy hour...

There is valet parking, $10-$20 I think. The metro is certainly cheaper, but valet is quick. I also suggest Old Ebbitt Grill, which is directly north of POV. Valet is only $8-$10 there, so you could grab drinks at POV and then dinner at Ebbit.

Have fun, it is a great view.

POV is an excellent place to go if somebody is hosting a reception there. As for spending my own cash at the place... uh, I wouldn't know anything about that But the view certainly is spectacular.

This is late, but it is close to Metro Center or McPherson Square
