Help Needed! LAX to Puerto Vallarta ASAP

Hi flyertalk gurus! My family and I were scheduled to travel today to Puerto Vallarta from LAX on Mexicana. It turns out my passport was expired -- so my family is en route and I'm waiting for my passport now. The office says it should be ready this afternoon, so what I need help with is advice on how best to get to Puerto Vallarta. There is a flight tomorrow morning, LAX->Puerto Vallarta at 9:55am PST, which is the same one I was supposed to be on today -- but the flight is full.

Is my best bet to get to the airport at 5am and try to get on it standby? Thanks in advance for all your help, your assistance will make mine a much happier holiday!!

Have you checked F availability? That might still be available even when Y is full (but at a high price).

Orbitz is showing, for Dec 25, DL having availability in coach, but for a high oneway fare:

$389 + $47 taxes & fees = $436 per person

Leave
Thu, Dec 25 Delta Air Lines 461
Depart: 10:55am
Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
Arrive: 4:01pm
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR)

You can book the DL flight right now, at http://www.orbitz.com or http://www.delta.com (it is positive space, all you need is a credit card, no need to standby at the airport).
