Dreams Resort Cancun

I'm currently working with my brother to plan his honeymoon. The wedding is 5/30/08, and they're looking to be away from Sunday, the 31st to Saturday, the 6th of June. With my OnePass miles, I can get them to a few places that week, one of them being Cancun.

He found a deal at the Dreams Resort Cancun that's very nicely discounted, and I wanted to draw on y'all's collective wisdom about Dreams.

1. How does the Dreams Resort compare with other all-inclusives in CUN (and elsewhere)?

2. What features might make Dreams an attractive place for a young couple to spend their honeymoon?

3. Is there any reason to avoid Dreams at that time - renovation, etc.?

4. How's the location?

5. Anything else he should know before pulling the trigger, so to speak?

Thanks so much!

Exclamation

I would check weather..... there is a reason it is so reasonable.... ie. uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity.

Thanks, David. I checked the weather.com climate statistics, and late spring is certainly quite warm, but I think that's part of what they're looking for.

My questions/concerns had more to do with the Dreams Resort itself. Any thoughts?

We visit Cancun every year and in fact for 2009 will be there June 8-16. The weather will be just fine - warm, but lovely. I have heard nothing but great things about Dreams for couples. You can always go to Trip Advisor for reports. You can look for the Cancun form and post the same question there. You will get honest answers.

El Dorado Royale?

Thanks, gdeluca. I looked at Tripadvisor and we generally good a good impression there.

What about the El Dorado Royale, by comparison?

The tripadvisor board for Cancun is very active. Either post a question asking for a comparison or use their search feature.

We are heading to Cabo San Lucas for the first time in January, and I have been able to do a great deal of research via tripadvisor.

Dreams is in the top quartile of the all-inclusive resorts in that area. So reasonably good, but not the best; probably quite price-efficient though.

An alternative, quite different from the all-inclusives, is to go 100 miles south from CUN and try something like Azulik on the Mayan Riviera: http://www.azulik.com/
