US Passport validity requirements?

Some countries require your US passport to be valid for 6 months past your stay in that country. Can't find any such requirement for Mexico - but I would love confirmation of that.

We are traveling to Puerto Vallarta 1/20-2/3 - and our passports expire on February 7. No problem - right?

Thanks for your help.

It's Mexico...I'd say there would be no problem, generally speaking.

My Grandma spends the winters at my place in Vallarta...the general stay allowance is 90 days. When she looked at her entry visa card, she became concerned since she was staying for about 117 days, so we traveled to the airport to ask an immigration representative. He literally scribbled out the 90 and said, "How many days you want, seora?"

That said, you have plenty of time to get them renewed right now...without having to pay expedite fees...why take the risk of ruining your vacation?

Theoretically, no hay problema; they will stamp your entry permit and your passport, and put the entry document in your passport (do not lose it; you will be asked to give it up on departure.)

But also theoretically - if your departure becomes delayed for any reason, of you deal with someone with little power and a big authority problem, you could technically get hassled; not likely, but... If it were me, I'd get the passports renewed before going - give the US Passport Office plenty of time, because there will likely be a rush with the new deadlines for passport required travel approaching.

Passport has less than 6 months left!

I too found nothing requiring 6 months to enter Mexico for a week. My daughter-in-law is worried and I wondered what the latest wisdom was on this.

My biggest concern is that the airline (Frontier) will deny her a seat. Is that a real risk?
