Exemption from Mexico departure tax?
Does this qualify for the Mexico Tourism and Departure tax exemption since I am in Mexico for less than 24 hours. AA didn't think so but I just wanted to make sure

I don’t believe it does, given you are definitely not in the exemption zone generally covered.
As this is about Travel to Mexico and isn’t related to a specific airline, we will move this to the Mexico forum.

It may qualify for the tourism tax exemption, but it will not qualify for the departure tax exemption, as that's an airport usage fee - it's wrongly translated into English as 'departure tax'.
PS: I stand corrected - the AA page on tax refunds does indeed state that you qualify for both. In my experience, just request a refund after your travel is complete referring to the AA tax exemption page, and you should be set.
