No more Customs Forms?

I just completed my FMM online (thanks for the tip here) for a trip to Cancun and while looking to see if I can do the same for Customs Forms I came across this:

Mexico Eliminating Customs Forms & Random Screenings for Arriving Passengers.

https://www.riviera-maya-news.com/cancun-airport-officially-eliminates-customs-forms-traffic-light-system/2017.html

Can anybody confirm that customs forms are no longer required? And if they still are, can they be done online?

We just came back and there seemed to be some confusion by the cabin crew what if any forms to pass out. We did fill out immigration forms. We did not have any customs forms on the plane going into Queretaro...and when we arrived at the customs station we had to fill one out ( per family) and press the button for random testing. Nothing had changed. This was 2 weeks ago.

Edit.....I just read the article and it appears to be a very limited number of entry points that are trying the new system. Queretaro ( a small regional airport) is clearly not one of them
