Cancun help and recommendations

We are heading to Cancun and have stays booked at the Intercon Presidente and Westin Resort. Looking for some recommendations for both food and drink locally to the hotel or within the hotel zone. Not looking to spend a fortune but good food, especially seafood, and somewhere to have a drink and not break the bank.

Would also appreciate some recommendations on Downtown Cancun. Good restaurants and bars. Is it safe to stay out late and enjoy or should one go back early?

I would also be interested to know what the cab cost is from the Westin to the main hotel area. is it a fixed cost or negotiable?

Other suggestions on tour companies and places to visit would be appreciated.

Have you checked the threads pertaining to the properties in question in the hotel chain fora? Often enough, members will include such information as airport transport, nearby places to eat, etc.

Also http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...w-san-sfo.html.

The cost from the airport to the hotel will be more than v.v. thanks to the influence of the "taxi mafia". You might consider a shuttle or private pickup.

I have JD but could not find certain information which would make life a little simpler. When I mentioned cab cost it was from the Westin to the main Zone so maybe a little unclear.

NOTE: We have deleted posts flogging the Raintree Vacation Club and Club Regina Cancn. The posts were in violation of FlyerTalk rules regarding commercial posts, posted by alleged members of Raintree Vacation Club in other countries but posted from the same Mexican IP address. This just seems to emphasize the aggressive time share sales often ascribed to both entities, and are possibly clues to avoid the club and property.
