What is Casual Elegance?

I will be going to Dreams Cancun soon for seven nights. I have been reading about the resort and their website lists the restaurants available and the dress code. All the restaurants list "Casual Elegance" for dinner. What does this mean? I have chinos and loafers can I wear these with a Polo Shirt? I bought two of these shirts. CTshirts Contemporary Pique Polo Would these be appropriate? Can I wear a standard plain polo? Could I wear chinos with loafers and a short sleeve button up shirt untucked? What does "Casual Elegance" mean? If anyone has been to Dreams Cancun or has experience with "Casual Elegance", please provide your advice. Thanks for any help.

I'd expect that to be plenty smart. I'm not familiar with that resort but I rarely see anything more than khakis and a polo, sportshirt or similar in CUN.

If you're a woman, it means they don't want any part of your bare *ss touching the chair.
If you're a man, it means they don't want your chest/belly hair touching the tablecloth.

To me, it means that you can wear almost anything as long as it's sufficiently expensive and preferably has a designer label.

I understand the concept you are presenting Sylvia, I have neither chest or belly hairy but I think it goes a little beyond that and I don't think expense or designer matters but thank you MSP for the response anyway.

No tie, no jacket. Polo or button up shirt without slogans. You could probably get by with khaki or madras shorts. "Casual Elegance" is about giving the ladies a chance to glam it up in their new resort wear.

Perfect! Collared shirts or polos, chinos or even nice shorts, shoes or attractive sandals (preferably with socks), but not tee shirts, holy jeans, flip-flops or bare feet (unless you want to look "bien naco" - like a yokel - and get lesser service. Maybe small embroidered logos, but not poster-sized cartoon characters. That's pretty much the travel definition of "casual elegance" used by lodging and cruise companies (like Windstar Cruises), and what I will be wearing later this month in Cancn and Isla Mujeres. Tizzette said it more succinctly, and Sylvia still has me laughing on the fl00r.

Could have little crocodiles on the chest, but those are soooo pass.
