I know nothing (about Mexico ;) )
I am pondering a trip in May for a week. Looking for an adults only (or at least no little kids, 13+ would be ok) all inclusive resort hotel. I have seen a few different resorts listed (understatement much?), but the ones I am looking at are on the Mayan Riviera (and I am getting a touch confused about which towns they are in!) but Secrets (Silversands, Capri, Maroma), the Catalonia Royal Tulum, and a few others. Anyone know any of these?
I am also concerned by some reviews that say the beach in the area isn't good, rocky, can't swim in the sea, but then contradicted by other reviews saying beautiful, sandy etc - who is lying! I appreciate weather can be a factor, mid May is when I am looking. I love swimming in the sea, walking on the beach etc, so good sea / sand is important to me.
Thanks in advance for the help - it seems to be a minefield out there!

By this I mean is it Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel Island or Tulum.
Cancun is a 1 hr drive from Playa del Carmen, Cozumel Island is 30 min. ferry from Playa del Carmen and Tulum is about 3 hours from Cancun.
I can really help you out on some pointers if you decide where are you going to stay.

The place I am looking at today is Playa Aventura (I think I spelt that right) just south of Playa del Carmen. I think the mainland is preferable, but no real preference between eg Playa del Carmen and Tulum etc.

Stay in Playa del Carmen
I would recommend you stay in Playa del Carmen it really has very beautiful beaches. Dont forget to visit Mamitas Beach it is very nice. The ocean water is great no rocks, white sand.
There are a lot of really good restaurants in 5th Avenue.
Either way, you will have lots of fun staying in Playa del Carmen.
Maybe you would like to check this hotel out:

Thanks. Yes, that Secrets was one I was looking at when I put my initial post up, but I have since decided to go with another resort further south. Thanks for your help, and I am sure I will pop up to Playa del Carmen for some shopping.
