Marriott Oatmeal
Is it me or did Marriott change the oatmeal that they use for breakfast? i am staying at a SHS in Sacramento and the oatmeal tastes like wheat paste. Looks like oatmeal, smells like oatmeal but that is where it ends. - no texture. I had the same product in DFW SHS as well recently
It appears to be similiar to a Quaker Oats/Weight Watchers product that I had at someone's house a while ago. Nasty stuff

Thanks for the update?
I imagine different properties have different, perhaps local, suppliers for most of that sort of thing.

I love the Marriott oatmeal and it is a shame when a particular property doesn't do it right. See this thread for more details about the Quaker Kettle Hearty Oats they're supposed to use:

Just be happy your Marriott is still serving oatmeal. Most of mine don't anymore - it's eggs and fruit only for bfast (oh and some really fattening pastries). I miss it and now have to purchase my morning oatmeal from starbucks.

I had oatmeal on Monday at the FS Marriott in PHL and it *seemed* the same as usual for me. It was quite good.

if you are in a full service, pull out the "Spirit to Serve", read the Karl Kilburg story then take it to a manager and tell them "oatmeal is NOT negotiable..." bet they find it....(i did just that-forget where, but i got my oatmeal!)
it's all in how they make it....and it needs to be watched as it WILL get too thick if water is not added............my mom eats this almost every day-it's good for you!

I love the FS Marriott Oatmeal!!!
I have been sad staying at the Renaissance who only has eggs, fruit, and pastries. Although, they are darn good real eggs, but loaded with butter.
The oatmeal is definitely better for me. And tasty when done right.

I love oatmeal and will choose it over most other breakfast items, when available. It's great when cooked correctly, but maybe one-third of the time, it's just lousy for one reason or another. I suspect that the OP's experience was just one of those days, not some corporate-wide change.
(My SO's oatmeal is in a class all by itself. Spectacular!!!)

If your SO wouldn't mind - could you PM me the recipe with all tips or tricks used? I would be most appreciative....

Somehow this topic is absolutely fitting for Marriott and would be horribly out of place at any other brand.

The Marriott Oatmeal is by far the BEST oatmeal I've ever had anywhere. I order it anytime I stay as a FS Marriott. But, a couple of weeks back, I noticed that it was no longer on the menu. It would be awful if they have discontinued it.
