Woke up this morning and saw a new promo in my account:
Earn 1 free night after 3 qualifying stays
Key T&Cs:
Sounds like a nice offer, but I'm a bit disappointed that only one free night can be earned (seems less lucrative than other programs), but it's nice that the night can be used through the end of the year.
Earn 1 free night after 3 qualifying stays
Key T&Cs:
Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by June 30, 2009 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-4 hotel after their third paid stay made between June 1, 2009 and August 31, 2009, at a participating Marriott property.
Maximum one free night award earned with this promotion per member.
An earned free night award can be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-4 properties for one (1) free night between June 1, 2009, and December 31, 2009.
An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
An earned free night award will be added to the members account within 3-5 business days after the third qualifying stay.
Awards are not transferable and may not be given as a gift.

LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME
This is the summer promo?!?
They actually pay someone to comeup with this stuff?
It was supposed to be a targeted teaser promo for new members.
There is a thread about it somewhere here already.
It is a very lame promo IMO-wait till the new members see the cr***y cat.4properties they have to choose from for their free night
More info here

Are you sure? It calls itself the "Marriott Rewards Summer 2009 Promotion" on my promotions page.
But yes, having just read through the Cat 4 hotel list, I hope I'm wrong.
Mods: If this is discussed elsewhere please combine/delete

Actually, it's possible that it could really be gba's Summer Promo.
My Summer Promo is 15 nights / 20k bonus.
I also have that two-stay-one-free-night thing in there, but I think that's different. Marriott fixed that issue, so gba wouldn't have seen it new today.
In My Promotions, Marriott really does call this one the "Summer 2009 Promotion". They don't use the term "Megabonus" like they typically do. Perhaps somebody figured out that 20,000 bonus points isn't really mega-anything. On 15 nights, it's a nice little bonus. But nothing insanely lucrative.
I don't make it...we're traveling Europe this summer and hitting boutiques and B&B's. Maybe if somebody else posts a lower promo, I'll call Marriott and ask to be downgraded to that. (They will typically do that for Plats.)

Marriott Summer Promo
Mine also says Marriott Rewards Summer 2009 Promotion
But I got a slightly different offering: 15k pojnts for 6 stays.
Leave your cares, your work and your world behind. Sign up now to earn 5,000 Marriott Rewards bonus points after every other paid stay starting with your second stay. It's a quick and easy way to earn up to 15,000 bonus points toward a free getaway of your own.
Typical, I have three stays between now and May 31st and maybe 2/3 until September when I will pick up again. I'd rather have the points than the double nights.

Guess I got the short end of the stick, any chance they'll let me switch (I'm a Gold)? I'd much prefer points over a free night at a Cat. 4.

25k for 20 nights. I'll think about it, but probably going to stick with SPG.
The megabonus for 1Q was 50k for 25 nights. That's a little better.

I got the 20,000 for 15 nights offer. I wonder if I'll be able to "double dip" this promo with the May 11-June 26 double night credit offer? That would certainly encourage me to find some Marriott stays in May-June. I guess it's just my luck but almost all my Marriott stays this year have occurred just outside the promo windows. I had 15 in January-February when nothing was offered and 8 more May 1-11.
I'm guessing Marriott looks at my stay pattern and figures out how to exclude me personally
