Platinum status

Hi All,

Few days ago I've got my platinum status with Marriott. I've been gold with them for 3 years and its nothing special. What about platinum? What is the arrival gift that people on ft are talking about?
By the end of the summer I will have about 160 nights with Marriott for 2009. Are they going to give me extra year of platinum status for making platinum twice this year?

Thanks.

500 points or
fruit and cheese or something like that

Nope to the extra yr - but maybe they will give you PP ( BTW 160 out of 160 available nites is pretty incredible - so you still have a house? :P )

Its going to be 160 out of 240 (end of August)
I will have two stays for 40 days each so I can get only extra 1000 points. I don't know if this is such a good deal

Thanks

You will also get a 50% bonus on all the points you earn. At 160 nights, even at a cheap rate, that will be a ton of points.

Unlikely to get pp (Platinum Premier) as general consensus seems to be that they look at more than 1 year of stays.

The extra points percentage will be your main bonus if you're doing two 40 night stays.

On the status question - next year, even with no stays you'll still be platinum (till Feb 2011) as you'll have qualified for this year, the year afterwards you'll be gold (till Feb 2012) - even with no other stays.

Plat Arrival gift is either 500 points or choice of beverage (wine/beer/soda/water) and a snack (fruit, cheese and crackers).

You could check out and re check in and get another Plat gift if you choose

This is the normal arrival gift for a FS Marriott. For the non-FS hotels, you would get 200 points (250 for non-NA CYs) or an item option. If the hotel has a little mini-mart close to the front desk, I'm usually offered the option of one or two items from the mart. If they don't have the mini-mart, then they will normally have a small bag with a couple of bottles of water and a very small bag of cookies.

Thanks all for your input. I will be staying in FS Marriott in Asia.
Unfortunatelly I have to put my stay on corporate Amex.

Thanks again.
