"Marriott Gift Cheque" - change?

If I order the "Marriott Gift Cheque" for $1000, do I need to spend it all in one place?

No. If you get the Gift Checks, Usually Marriott will send you 10 $100 or 20 $50--- then of course each one needs to be used in it's entirety.

If you get a Gift Card then it is just like a credit card.

Thanks - I went back to read the small print (i'm looking at platinum offer code E195), and it confirms that no change is given. Anyone know if this is given out in small denominations? Or just as one large "cheque"

Hi hungarianhc,

As davidash mentioned, you will receive 20 $50 Gift Cheques.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,

Drew

The cheques are very large and a pain to carry. The gift/vacation card much easier to handle.

Although I agree the cheques are large in size, I have never had an issue getting them processed. And, as they are in $50, it is certainly easy to use in it's entirety -

On the other hand, if I did not use the gift card in it's entirety, I always seemed to have a problem on the next use....

Do you check the balance online and let them know the amount available at checkout time? I find that they cannot tell how much is left on the card. If they enter an amount higher than available, it just rejects.

I have used more than $12k on the gift/vacation cards with no problems.

Yes, I have - but that feeds into my point. I don't want to have to do that. For me, it is just easier to stick the cheques in a folder, hand them over, the desk clerk can easily read & process the amount, and I am out of there. Since I always have a briefcase or purse, the size of the cheque is not an issue for me.......

Now, if I am going to be on a trip where the entire balance of $1K will be used, it is easier to use the card, as the front desk does not have to enter all the numbers on the certificate.

I choose depending on the situation for which they will be used.

YMMV -
