points transfer

Under the T&C of the point transfer, there is a condition that the point can only be transferred to the spouse or domestic partner. I do not know what is the domestic partner. Can anyone explain that? Or anybody have transfer experience?

Domestic partner is someone you live with to whom you are not married.

In practice, you can combine points with just about anyone to get an award

Basically, Marriott will allow anyone to transfer points to someone's account as long as they are ordering an award. The T&Cs does state that this is only for spouses, but in practice they will allow any two accounts.

BTW, I recently pulled points from my mother's account for a series of awards. No questions, no problems. Just give MR a call, tell them you want to pull points from another account. They will fax you their form. You have to fill it out, sign it, get the owner of the other account to sign it, and then fax it back to Marriott. Actually, its not too hard.

If my own account has enough points for an award night, can I still pull some points from another account to order that award?

Per the T&Cs found Buy, Transfer or Convert Points , you are only supposed to be able to transfer points from a spouse or SO's account for enough points to order the award you need.

Note that Marriott doesn't enforce the spouse or SO account, but lets virtually anyone to transfer to anyone's account the points needed for an award. I say that as I have, in the past, transfered points from my wife's account into mine even though I had the needed points. I can't say whether that was a one-time over site from Marriott's perspective. Or if it is like the spouse's account issue and Marriott doesn't enforce it.

So my answer is YMMV, but they could very well say no to your request. And they would be within their stated rules to do so.

Years ago I was able to transfer my dads points to my account.

He was of the same address.

I believe I had to have him sign an affidavit or something.

Does anyone know how to find the form to have someone who is living with you transfer points into your account.

I did a search but could not find the link.

Never mind - just found the answer in the last thread.....

I recently transferred some points from Mr b1513's account to mine and they made me make the reward reservation at the time of transfer. YMMV.
