Thumbs down Another Marriott Cutback ???

I have been a Plat. MR for a few years now & twice a year they sent out a mailer to me that included 2fer's on dinners at various Marriotts etc and a free night with conditions.
I actually used some of them - BUT alas, I have not received any in about a year. I probably made a mistake by using them. I think this is another "ill advised cutback". Other than the obvious cutbacks in the Concirge Lounges, has anyone noticed any other cutbacks by Marriott to their Elite members ??

Marriott is still offering a number of various EEOs (Elite Exclusive Offerings). Those offerings though are only online now. You can find them at Deals shown: Platinum Offers (assuming you are a Gold/Plat you will see the Gold/Plat offerings.)

I would assume they are no longer sending out paper coupons and only providing them online in an effort to cut costs.

Seems like they would shoot out an email to notify you of the benefit/promotion.

The 'deals' site on marriott.com is a mess to go through. It's easier to just have something paper to take in with you.

EEO's are still there, but I agree with Neewbs: that portion of the site is a user experience train wreck.

I always print them when I want to use them; to date, I have not had any problems at the hotels, even though I always wonder if I will.

Talking Muddle Around

Guess I'll have to wade in the Electronic Age and sift through it. Call me old fashiioned but I did like to have the coupon in hand. At my ripe old age, I some times tend to forget, to look on websites.

You still have to have the coupon in hand. You will need to print it from the web site and have it with you when checking in, or when dining; depending on the offer you are using. Complete instructions are on the web site.

FWIW, web offers were introduced in tandem with coupon books a couple years ago. It was suppose to go to all web coupons only last year, although some of us still received paper coupon books. It was announced and discussed here on FT ad nauseum and generally thought to be a good thing since Marriott always had a problem getting the paper coupons out the door and in our hands in a timely manner. I prefer the paper coupon books too, but routinely only use them maybe once a year if I a m lucky since Europe and Resorts are excluded for the most part.

I actually prefer these electronically ( even though I like a newspaper at my door ).

Its one less thing to remember to pack - I can just go to the business center and print it out if I have a need for it.

I once went to a Kinko's to print out the coupon from my laptop. The cost ended up being $1.24, but the coupon saved me about $110.

I am not saying anything new, but echoing 2 prior posts:
I would prefer an email notification.
I do prefer everything being online.

It is becoming quite a chore (scrolling etc) to view so many pages of offers. Be nice to have a sort or search function (by date or by georgraphy). I know, I am just day dreaming!

Yeah, but most of us do not have the kind and friendly disposition that you have!

and with the on line ones, you have rocket scientist desk associates who DON'T understand that the piece of paper IS the certificate!

(and MANAGERS who don't either!)

I can probably get away now without going to Kinko's anymore for printouts. Most Marriott properties without business centers will allow a limited number of free printouts. You can save the coupon as a PDF and email it to the front desk to have them print it out. If you are a frequent guest at a property, you could probably get the printout before you check in.
