Problems with changing a reservation

I have a stay in Florida this coming March (spring Break) on points. I originally booked it for 8 nights but then found out I would only be able to stay 7 nights (115,000 pts for 7 nights plus 25,000 for the 8th night). I called Marriott reservations (platinum) and they said they could not make the change and that I would have to call the property for them to make the change. I called and spoke to the GM and he called MR and they made the change. The next day I looked at the reservation on-line and it still showed 8 nights. I called again, MR called the property and the property said their system showed 7 nights. MR said they would make the change in the Marriott system. A week later, same thing. I just called yesterday and again, the same thing. That is 4 attempts to get the reservation adjusted and as of today, it still shows 8 nights. The last 2 attempts I was told I would recieve an e-mail as verification that this was corrected but no e-mail.

The problem is, due to my staying pattern, I will probably not have the 140,000 points needed for the 8 night stay in time. I WILL have 115,000 needed for the 7 night stay. MR told me I could buy the additional points but that is not the point...I made a change to the reservation, the property shows the change but MR does not see it in their system. I should not have to buy points that I will not use for a glitch in their system.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Forgive me if I am belaboring the obvious, but have you tried booking a new 7 day reservation and then simply canceling your old 8 day reservation?
