OU812 - I seem to recall when we went through this whole discussion last year that if people were close to potentially getting the 75 nights, they wouldn't give them the extended prior to the year end. Most likely this is an incentive to keep you to make a couple stays up to the year end.
For those curious about my stay pattern, I had 68 nights this year, 93 in 2007, 151 in 2006 and 76 in 2005. Prior to that I don't have the specific numbers, but was Platinum in 2000, 2001 and 2002 as well. MR was nice enough to not drop me down to Gold in 2003 and 2004, even though I had a very limited number of nights in either year (I think I did 15 nights in 2004). 2005 I was dropped to Gold, but bumped back up to Platinum when by the time I had booked my 3rd stay in 2005. I had 72 nights last year and was awarded Platinum a few days ago without asking. I have 7 days this year so far so perhaps they used that information to bump me.

I'll hold off staying at Marriott until 2/1 when its mega bonus starts. Currently working hard on the 20K Hyatt bonus points... ;) |

Congrats! That must be the 'rolling year'. I'm currently one night short on the rolling basis (72 in '08 and 2 nights this year). I emailed Marriott for a possible bump up but no luck.
