100 Points Fast
I'm 100 points short of a 1000 point threshold in my wife's account to transfer to mine. Rather than waste the $12.50 to buy the extra 1k points, I was hoping to top off her account. But the Visa is in my name and points to my account. She made purchases through Marriott Rewards mall but a month has passed and they haven't posted -- and I think its supposed to take 2-3 months total.
So I know I can buy points -- which I'm doing anyway -- so I'm trying to find a way to save myself $12.50 for that last thousand points. Seems like any alternate solution is too slow or too expensive. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Is it free to transfer points between accounts in a household in the first place?

1) transfers can only be made in conjuction with a reservation, and they are free
2) I dont know of any quick options for Pitflyer, i dont know the posting time for points from car rentals, hotel stays

Hertz rentals (500 points standard) seem to post reasonably quickly (under a week), so if you have a hire car at all you can easily transfer the points to your wife's account.
Or, buy some gift cards with the current promo, but you'll probably have to pay more in postage than $12.50!
The only other thing that comes to mind are those silly little promos sometimes on your hotel restaurant tab "fill me in for 250points" which post quickly.
But, are you sure you need to get the extra 100 points, as mentioned I didn't think there was a minimum limit for transferring between accounts when making a reservation.

There's no limit, its just they round up to the nearest 1000, and I have 9900 odd points that will go wasted if I can't 'top them off' to 10k. Will have to consider a car rental then.. I usually rent from National and get the free nights there, however. Thanks.

I'm missing something. Since you can transfer in increments of 1,000 points - but only to qualify for a specific Reward, as discussed above - you could transfer 9,000 points. Only 900 points, not 9,900, would be orphaned in your spouse's account.

Correct, that is what I meant. Hence why I'm only saving '$12.50' if I can find a way to get the 100 points -- since 1000 points cost $12.50, and if I can rescue the orphan 900 points with another 100 points then I don't have to spend the money to buy the 1k total points. But it seems like without a Visa or a stay there's no easy way to post a small extra number of points.
