redeeming points as "gift" in another's name

Has anyone done this? I'd like to reserve a night for my sister, using my points. I won't be staying with her, so I'd like to transfer points to her account, or something like that.

I see on the Points reservation page it says

For information about redeeming points as a "gift" in another's name, please contact Marriott Rewards Customer Service.

I haven't contacted Customer Service yet. Before I do, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with doing this that they could share with me. Will Customer Service help me out? Will there be a charge to do this?

Thanks much.

I have done this several times. It's perfectly permissible. You tell them the Marriott Rewards rep you're booking this for so-and-so, so please put that person's name on the reservation, and give them your credit card number to reserve the room.
