How long does it usually take for US stays to post?
I'm relatively new to Marriott's Rewards program. I completed a stay in Connecticut about 8 days ago and I'm a little surprised that the points haven't posted yet. (The hotel confirmed on check-in that it was a points-eligible stay.) By contrast, I usually find that points for Hilton stays post within 3-4 days. What is the typical experience for FT'ers with points posting for Marriott?

Hi Kate,
No, typically, my US stay post within 2-4 business days. International stays tend to take longer.
If you still don't see your credit in the next couple of days, call up Marriott Rewards. I believe that they can fix US missing credits over the phone.
Cheers,

Yes does not take that long...3 days on average for me for any domestic hotel.

I'm also a new member. After a three night stay in early Sept in Virginia, it still wasn't posted as of a week and a half later. I called up and they advised me to fax a copy of the receipt to 801-468-4033. I did so and a few days later the points were posted.

The website will give you a Missing Stay Request. Print it and fax it to the number given and it will be fixed.

The official rules are to allow up to 10 business days. Usually, they post between 2-6 business days. An unofficial way to get missing stay credit for stays in the past 60 days is to call Marriott Rewards and ask them to credit the missing stay without faxing in the bill. They can only do this for US stays within the past 60 days. I did this about 4 months ago, and the stay posted the following business day.

Now my 2nd Marriott stay has failed to post (about 5 business days ago). Grrr. Also, points from shopping through the Marriott mall more than 6 weeks ago have not posted yet. Not impressed with Marriott. I've been aiming to accumulate about 100,000 points with Marriott as a back-up to Hilton, but I may change my strategy because so far, I'm not impressed with Marriott Rewards.

Kate,
Sorry to hear you're having problems with stays posting. I rarely have issues with stays posting. While 5 business days may seem like a long time, some properties take up to 10 business days. Most properties post faster, but a subset of properties seem to be slower. I have no idea why, but that has been my personal experience. Give it 5 more business days and then call MR Rewards or PM Marriott Concierge.
The only posting problem I have had recently is a FI property didn't ask nor give me the 200 pt platinum arrival gift. They did send me a survey which I filled out and indicated this problem (as well as a couple of other non points related issues). I got a nice letter back from the GM addressing my points and they gave me 1500 MR point bonus as compensation.
As for MR Mall purchase, I haven't made any myself. However, I have done similar purchases on the Mileage Plus Mall and it always takes a long time for the miles to post. That said, 6 weeks should have been enough time. I suggest calling MR on this one to sort it out.

P.S I don't have any axe to grind with Hilton. There are somethings they do better than Marriott (or at least appear to do so in my limited personal experience). I have considered (and am considering) using them as a secondary program. .
