Problems using Boingo (roaming internet provider) at Marriott?
I signed up for the Boingo roaming internet provider a year ago because it enabled me to connect at my airport at a much lower cost than anyone else. I was pleasantly surprised that it also worked at the hotel so I didn't have to pay a premium to check my e-mail. The account has paid for itself many times over as a result.
However, the past few months, I've had a a strange problem with Marriott connections. I'll be right in the middle of a web session when I'm disconnected. This requires logging in again. Once or twice as a result of idle time, I can understand, but it dumps me while I'm chatting or downloading so I know it's not that. Curiously enough, it's only at Marriott hotels this happens.
Anyone else experience this?

I am a big believer in using Boingo and no, I haven't (yet) had this happen. Have you contacted Boingo and requested their help? I am certain Marriott will be of no assistance whatsoever because the hotel would rather you pay their extortionate internet rates than use Boingo. (By the way, I just left the Courtyard Berlin, which is a great hotel, but charges about 19.00 Euro DAILY for internet and there is not even free internet on a lobby or business center computer).

Sad to report I've had problems getting connected and also getting booted off all the time....at airports, hotels, and elsewhere. I'd say my success rate with Boingo runs at about 70%.
Its not a problem specific to Marriott, IME. And absolutely, don't expect any help from the hotels...that would much prefer you purchase their more expensive service options.

Usually my connections with Boingo time out after 2-3 hours. Sometimes, I just refresh the login screen, and I am fine. (I leave the screen that shows up after logging in, and I refresh it when I am logged out.)
