Would appreciate a LNF rate for the following Marriott properties in San Diego for 1-8AUG 2010:

Courtyard San Diego Old Town
* 2435 Jefferson Street
* San Diego, CA 92110
I can get a rate of $110 / night here. Seems like a decent place: cheap parking and free breakfast, but it's right next to the highway and thus prolly noisy....

Residence Inn San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp Quarter
* 356 6th Avenue
* San Diego, CA 92101
I can get a rate of $147 / night here. Nicer place in a cool area, but no free breakfast and outrageous parking charges.

Any help here? Thanx in advance!

RI Gaslamp is a GREATTTT location....this is cheap breakfest place right acrosss the street...forgot the name thou. Did you check theMarriott a block away? Very nice as well. Cool rooftop bar which you can watch the Padres game.

How/Where to find LNF rates

We have 15 nights of vacation stays coming up at various European Marriotts and in Boston in September..I am a recent Gold, mostly acquired through Timeshare stays. Do not know how to go about finding an LNF rate for the upcoming stays..Can some one please send me a PM on how to find LNF rates!
Thanks in advance..

There is no such thing as an LNF rate.

LNF refers to the "Look No Further" guarantee offered by Marriott. To find out how it works, one needs to look on the Marriott website under "Best Rate Guarantee". Once you read the parameters of the program, you will have an idea of where to look for (possible) lower rates.

To locate lowest rates on the Marriott site itself, one can start with codes found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...ion-codes.html
And yes, you have to enter each code separately.

Only after you find what you believe to be the lowest rate should you post in this thread - and to help you, people need the specific hotel you want, the rate at which you are currently booked, and the dates of your stay.

Anyone posting with comments like "find me a cheap rate for Podunk" is not going to receive a reply, for no one can possibly know what your budget is, or which property in which you have an interest.

Thanks, This is exactly what I was looking for so that I can do the searches myself instead of posting here to find 6 - 8 different hotels where I will be staying during September..I had thought that there might be some web sites that help you find a cheaper rate than that available through the official Marriott site. I will go through codes..Thanks.

To find sites outside of Marriott, do a google search to locate travel booking sites like hotels.com, expedia.com etc.

But before you start, Just make sure you read and understand the terms of the LNF/BRG completely; for example, the rooms must match exactly; it must be a publicly available rate, it cannot be a prepaid or voucher rate, etc etc. It is easy to get shot down if you don't check all the details before you file.

It also pays to use some logic - if you are finding a $89 rate, how much cheaper are you really going to find it? At some point the few dollars saved is not worth the time and effort it takes!

And it is time consuming - but can be worth doing. I filed this week for NYC; the Marquis showed $459; I found it for $399. 25% off of $399 is $299; which was confirmed via BRG. Per night = $160; I am there for 4 nights: total saving $640 +.

But I will also say that I have just as much (if not more) luck really checking Marriott's own codes....it is pretty amazing what pops up. I found a rate for my sister: DC downtown, Res Inn - $79. It didn't qualify for BRG because it required AAA - but it did not come up under a regular search; and ended up cutting her rate by almost half.

And if you can find a publicly available rate through the marriott website using codes on which you can file a LNF? Jackpot! :D

Please mind that vast majority of these promotional codes produce either package rates (include also other components such as travel, car rental, entertainment, and/or non-breakfast meals), membership rates (discount rates offered only to members of groups or individuals who meet previously-specified criteria, including AAA members, seniors, government employees, or MR members) or rates that are not publicity available. All these rates are not part of BRG program.

It’s also good to know that you must reserve the lowest rate to be eligible for the guarantee, if multiple rates for the same hotel, reservation dates, and room type are available through a Marriott channel.

To give you a sense: With the exemption of one successful claim, competing rate from all of my accepted claims came from third party sites.

If you ask for assistance on this thread, you will save all those members a lot of time, if you provide relevant information. Let me highlight this:

My searches are turning up nothing, hope someone else can help!

You should include how many adults & children are in one room. When a claim form covers multiple nights, the rates will be compared for each night separately. In this case BAR for a Fallsview, Guest room, 2 Queen on www.marriott.com are: C$ 279.95/299.95/199.95 (7/23/24/25) If you find a more than 25% cheaper rate you would use alternatively, please quote this rate as well.

If you search, use travel search sites, but always check rates (and currency used) at referred booking site on a day by day basis. It’s easy to beat quoted $ 299 rate (was it CAD or USD?), but not as easy to beat Marriott’s BAR rate: As a result, you will find these rates on some third party sites: $ 265,19/284,15/189.42. All these rates don’t qualify for a BRG claim as Rate disparities is solely attributable to fluctuations and/or differences in currency exchange rates.

Thanks Sophigirl and Smartshopper for the additional information and tips..
We will be in Europe (Vienna, Budapest and Prague) for a total of 11 nights in September. I think I have pretty decent rates but after seeing some of the rates in this thread, I thought it might be worth spending some time looking for a better rate. It seems that several of the 'codes available for public use" do not apply to European hotels. The ones that were eligible did not produce a better rate than I already have. So the consolation is that the rates found are reasonable..
I became a 'gold' this year, so getting access to lounges and possible upgrades are great bonuses.:)
We will be in Boston for a couple nights also in late September so will try to use the bogo cert. for that...

If you did not check rates at third party sites you never know, if a cheaper than Marriott's BAR came up. If so, you had qualified for a further 25% discount. However, its more difficult to file a sucessful claim outside North-America as pre-paid rates that involve a voucher or other form of pre-paid certificate don't qualify for BRG.
