Strange delayed charge?
I just noticed on my Visa account that Marriott charged me an additional sum of $800+ the day after my departure. How weird is that
. On the proper check-out day, they only charged $300 (that charge should have been around 700!) but now I've been overcharged by nearly $400.
The accounting office is closed today but I'm very curious as to how that could be. I've never had a delayed/late charge like that made by any hotel.
Also, I don't see that I've been awarded the extra bonus points for my last couple of stays (part of a promo I signed up for). Ugh
I loathe having to follow up on this kind of stuff.

Having trouble deciphering your math, but it sounds as if you acknowledge being undercharged at checkout and then think because it was settled that you are not responsible for the difference. Were there charges that for whatever reason had not yet made it to your folio? That happens frequently. Just because you happen to check out faster than the charges post doesn't mean that you are not responsible for them. However, I would call the hotel and ask them to fax or e-mail you the final receipt. It should have the charges itemized. Then you will be in a better place to dispute any charges.

Hi copilot~ thanks for your input and please excuse my vagueness.
I looked at the bill (slid under the door per usual) on the morning of checking out and the total was as expected, 700+, so I thought nothing more of it. I signed it before leaving, at the front desk. (I'd made sure they didn't include any parking and that the mini-bar charges were correct ~ it was all in order).
But ~ having a look now at my Visa statement, only $300 was recorded upon check-out date and then, an additional $800+ appears, but for the following day. Obviously there's an error in the charges but the sequence, and random amounts of these billings are so bizarre. I'll speak to them tomorrow, and as you suggest, request an itemized bill. It's just such a bore to have to sort out and do follow-up on short stays.

I found out today that the baffling $300 charge is an error, Marriott did NOT run the card for authorization ~ now I need to take it up with VISA. The $800though seems to be correct, as a bus. visitor charged his valet parkings to my room which I didn't know about.
Anyway ~ doing battle with CC might be a bore but I'm glad it's sorted.
