These boards make for interesting and usually informative reading concerning the different venues we use for traveling. Although I don't post too frequently I do appreciate seeing what other users have to say.

To the point! Hanover, New Jersey Marriott has taken the record, in my opinion, for being the ABSOLUTE WORST hotel I had the mis-fortune to stay at. No need to elaborate unless others are concerned, just looking for feedback from other disgruntled Marriot Plat's.

I am typing this message from that property right now. I'm not dead yet.

I have stayed here three times in the last 30 days. This property is an average, business class Marriott hotel.

On all three occasions, I have been upgraded at least to the Concierge floor and one time an awsome upgrade to the Morris Suite (all on corporate rates, BTW). The Concierge Lounge serves a good hot breakfast (better than some Courtyards!) and a decent hot snack in the evenings.

My biggest beef is that the restaurant is closed in the evenings - you have to use one of the two bars for dinner.

I don't see the point of posting at all if one is going to create a thread that says a property is THE WORST ever of all Marriotts & then provides no details.

I agree that if you're going to call something the "worst", it would only be fair to provide at least a brief account of why you're so-designating.

However, the topic did get me thinking. I guess its a tribute to Marriott that I can't think of a property that I'd say is the "worst". All properties aren't created equal, but even the below-average Marriotts usually have some redeeming qualities. (By no means am I suggesting that you can't ever wind up having a crummy stay).

Usually my own bad experiences.... thankfully few and far between...are due to one or two standard operational matters being neglected. An example would be a poorly-serviced room, a rude/incompetent staff member, or perhaps a bad meal in a restaurant. To me any of those would indicate an individual area in need of improvement, as opposed to the property inherently being "bad".

My own two personal worst experiences this past year involved rude front desk clerks at the Napa Valley FS Marriott and at the FI in Huntsville, AL.

I suspect that neither is actually a "bad" hotel, but I really wouldn't know. I didn't hang around long enough to put up with the aggravation and find out. At each location, I politely but firmly told the offending staffer to cancel my reservation, and then left without checking in!
