Another point, gift shops usually don't know about the discount there either (Marriott run)

I wanted to get the discount on that.

I looked up the rate you are seeing and while I don't see any informtion to tell me it is a special rate (already discounted), I highly doubt that it is the "regular" rate that MR is talking about. I'm assuming the "regular" rate is similar to the rack rate, which is typically 2-4 times the rates people typically use.

If it was off the "rack rate" any rate would always be lower than that usually even if they discounted it 10%, therefore it would not be an "elite benefit" at all.

Also the program states regular rate, not rack rate therefore this condition should not apply.

Since noone seems to know how to apply this discount and people seem to know very little about it again it seems like a null benefit.

I think that is the flyertalk users majority opinion 10% discount = null benefit.
