Thumbs down Mold in Room

I just stayed at the Marriott in Austin Texas on Loop 410 and found that my room had lots of mold around the window and on the wall and ceiling. I called down to the front desk and had them move me immedialtely to a different room. To my surprise I say it had guests the next day.

Who should I complain about this? This is a major health risk and can't imagine Marriott Corporate would want to find out they are putting guests at risk.

I'd start with the general manager

Loop 410 sounds like it might be San Antonio instead of Austin...I know there is a Marriott Northwest in San Antonio off of Loop 410.

What is the major health risk associated with mold? I'm not a health expert and I have to admit that I don't usually go around and check my hotel room for mold anywhere. I do know that if mold is found in a home here in Texas, it can be very expensive to get cleaned (and can have a large effect on your insurance.)

After checking in to my room at the Portland, ME Marriott I discovered a large tear in the wallpaper in the entry. To make it worse there was black mold covering the backside of the wallpaper and wall behind the tear. I asked for a new room and went to the front desk for my keys. When I returned to get my things, there was another couple opening the door of my original room, surprised to see my luggage. They were not satisfied with their first room and asked to move ....... and ended up in my original room. The front desk clerk acted like she thought this was an awful finding on my part. Obviously not bad enough to prevent her from quickly checking someone else into it.
That hotel in general is in need of updating.
