Staying at LHR Marriott
Any advice, or reports on this hotel? What to expect? any chance for a room upgrade (or the $20 method)? I'll be there this weekend for 1 night.

Can I also add a question, as I can't search for "LHR Marriott"

- Does the Club Lounge have views of the runway at all? (For the plane spotter inside me.)

There are SEVERAL threads on the LHR Marriott. Try tryping Marriott Heathrow or London Marriotts in your search & they'll crop up. A lot of those threads are recent. Cheers.

I have a one night stay coming up before an early flight out of LHR in November. So I'll be curious to hear any report you might want to give.
I haven't stayed there myself yet, but Mrs. Cyberdad stayed there for a night last year with our daughter, who lives in London.
Both report it to be a rather standard airport Marriott with good...if slightly overpriced...food/beverage services. Generally good service and friendly competent staff. No upgrade, but they were staying on points, and probably didn't request one.
One thing they mentioned was that transportation in the immediate area between hotel, terminal, tube, HEX, etc. was a bit of a hassle and also something of a ripoff.

Agree. I always take the free local busses that run along Bath Road ("Hotel Row"). No need to pay the Hoppa.
For cheap food, there's a McDonald's next to the Marriott & a pub nearby.
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure my wife and daughter were referring to the "hoppa" when they were talking about the local transportation hassles. I think they realized there was undoubtedly a better way to accomplish what they were trying to do, but didn't know how to go about it. (I'm sure my daughter has learned the drill by now, since she's stayed there...and at the nearby HI...a few times since).

Overnighted there a couple of years ago and found it fine. Pretty decent room, easy check-in and check-out, etc.

No. If you want runway vies, you will need to go to the Renaissance, whose lounge looks straight down on one of the runways.
