Question on Visa free night Certificate

I made reservation today to use my electronic 34A certificate. After the reservation, I looked at my account, it says I have not ordered my certificate yet. I click order now, it asked me for 15K points.

Is this right way to do it?

Thanks

Since you already have your certificate, you will want to check the box stating NOT to order a certificate. If you allow the system to order one for you, it will deduct the points and you will then have 2 certs in your account.

Just wondering do you have to make this reservation over the phone?

No.

You can use the online reservation tool for most every reservation. If you already have the appropriate cert in your account, then there should be no reason you would need to call Marriott. Just make sure you do in fact have the correct cert in your account. Then make your reservation online, and check the "Already have a certificate" checkbox. When you check-in at the hotel, the system will automatically grab the appropriate certificate from your account.
