Efolios
Just did efolio service for first time. I need the hotel bill asap. What is the avg time it takes to receive hotel bill from checkout? Are they any other options like asking them to fax it?

Usually, they arrive within 2-3 business days. You can also request a copy of a bill by faxing a request to Marriott Business Service for a stay. You need to include the date of the stay, the property name, and a return fax number.

How do I contact Marriott business services in that case?

Every paper receipt from Marriott has the toll free number. It is 866-435-7627. If you call this number, they will give you instructions on requesting a fax of a folio for a prior stay. Requests have to be made during normal business hours, and they promise to send one the same business day if you do it before 2:30 pm, I believe.

I agree it is about 2-3 days, and is usually about a day before the stay officially posts to your account.

Well
Well I got my efolio by e-mail with room price of 0 and things cutoff. Here's hoping the fax I requested is higher quality.

So what is the draw or benefit of the efolio? I haven't signed up for it and in reality, not sure I really want to.
Do you still get a paper receipt showing all your charges and payments at check-out? If not, then how do you verify that Marriott hasn't made a mistake of sometype? I wouldn't want to find out that there was a problem with my bill 2 or 3 days after I have checked out. I would want to be right there at the hotel getting it resolved before I check out rather than afterward.

The reason I like it is if I lose my hard copy I can print it for expenses purposes...I save them also so I don't have to make copies for various end of year reporting. But the issues you cite are valid so I always check my bill prior to checking out.

You will still get a paper copy of the bill if you select to receive the efolio. Since I run my own business, I do not need the bills for reimbursement.
I get the efolio for a few reasons. First, I want to make sure that my final bill is correct. I have had the rare occasion where I had to leave before checking out every detail on my bill. In addition, the times I do not receive an efolio or get one that has no correlation to my actual bill serve as an advance warning that I need to fix up a bill. I did not get a bill for a recent reward stay, and that stay did not post to my reward account (I did not get credit for the platinum welcome gift). In addition, I was charged for the award stay as well.
The efolios are also handy if you need to access copies of old stays, and you do not have the paper bill.

why do they take so long?
I have to say, it kinda annoys me that the efolios take such a long time to arrive. I do have to do reimbursements, and I like to do them the day I get back. efolios sometimes take 4-5 days to arrive.
The efolio equivalent at National Rent a Car is in my inbox by the time I get to the terminal after dropping off the rental car - and that's a guy with a handheld scanner and a recpt printer strapped to his belt. Surely Marriott could improve this.
Also, why, exactly, can't I get these things online in my account too? Shouldn't I be able to see the recpt?
I have to say, for a company that caterers to business travelers, all this seems kinda lame...

I like the idea of having an e-copy of all my receipts as it will help keep tracking of past stays easier. But I do want to have a hard copy of the receipt whenever I leave a property. It just makes me feel better.

You should still get a hard copy under the door before checkout. You can always request an updated one at the front desk if you checkout there. I usually checkout with the front desk because I usually have additional charges for breakfast or other incidentals.
