Long Beach, CA, Renaissance experiences?
We are planning 2 nites in Long Beach, CA the middle of May and understand the REnaissance was recently renovated. Can anyone give us recent experience? Thanks.

Well I figured out that it was Long Beach
I used to hold some events at the LB Ren when I was on the board of an association.
Haven't been there since the renovation, but the staff were quite good when I was there. Besides the points, the staff was of the reasons I switched the mtgs from Sheraton Cerritos to LB Ren.
It's got an excellent location on Ocean & Pine. Pine has a # of bars & restaurants, and the Ren isn't far from the village across the marina - can't remember the name of it, but lot of shops, restaurants, bars. Also, not far from the LB Aquarium and/or the Queen Mary.
If I was going to LB, the Ren is where I'd stay. There's also a Hyatt & Hilton downtown.
Cheers.

Stayed at the property over Christmass.
Lounge was closed so we were given drink and appetizer cards for each night.
Had a great corner suite, new carpet, bedding etc.
Lots to do within walking distance, resturants, shops, movie theatre, safe at night.
I would stay here again.

my choices in Long Beach in this order
1. Hyatt - IMHO far and away the best of the properties
2. Renaissance - distant 2nd to the Hyatt
3. Hilton - don't like the location compared to the two above

While we know there are multiple chain properties in the area, the question was recent experiences at the LB Ren.
If you've got experiences & input there, pass it on. If the OP is not a Hyatt or Hilton person, the fact that they're around as we both noted or your list is irrelevant.
Cheers.

I stayed at the Long Beach Ren about a year ago on a Priceline stay. I thought it was a very good property. The room was nicely furnished and good sized. The staff treated me well. Even got a MegaBonus stay credit. ^
The breakfast buffet was excellent. I think you will like it.

Well in that vein, I agree w/ you re: the Hilton being 3rd on the list. I haven't stayed at the Hyatt in years so can't say one way or the other re: whether it or Ren should be # 1 or 2. But there have been a few who have posted their experiences w/ the Ren, so presumably that's given the OP the info requested. Cheers.

THE LONG BEACH RENAISSANCE IS NICE BUT THE HYATT NEARBY HAS OFTEN POINTS PROMOTIONS BUT IS NOT AS NICE PROPERTY AS THIS.
YOU PROBABLY CAN GET A NICER ROOM BEING PLATINUM AT RENAISSANCE THAN AT THE HYATT IF YOU ARE HYATT DIAMOND.
THE LOUNGE WAS OK BUT NOTHING SPECIAL. THE HILTON ON LB IS TIRED.
I must had left a caps lock on.

I stayed there two weeks ago. The room were fine, the lobby is a disaster area to put it nicely; definitely a work in progress.

Suites
One thing about the Long Beach Renaissance. They do not upgrade Platinum members to suites, or at least that's what the manager said as he offered me a junior suite for $420.
